PROFILE OF BRIGADIER GENERAL FRANCIS OFORI
Brig Gen Francis Ofori commissioned into the Engineer Corps of the Ghana Army in August 1985. He has successfully completed all his mandatory career progression courses. The courses include Command and Staff College (Junior Division), Nigeria from January to June 1993, Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (Senior Staff Course) from September 1998 to August 1999, United States Army Command and General Staff College course in the United States of America from June 2011 to June 2002.
Brig General Ofori is also a graduate from the United States Army Engineer School, United States Army and General Staff College, South African National Defence College, German Army Engineer School and UN Senior Mission Leader’s Course in India.
By way of appointments, Brig General Ofori has held many across board. It includes Aide de Camp to the Chief of Defence Staff, Military Assistant to the Minister for Defence, Commanding Officer, 48 Engineer Regiment, Deputy Director, Army Peacekeeping Operations, and Director Engineer Services and Deputy Director General Logistics. Before his current appointment as GOC Northern Command, he was the Commander Support Services Brigade.
His foreign operational deployments include Commanding Officer, UNIFIL 67, Combat Engineer Operations Staff Officer UNIFIL HQ Operations all in South Lebanon, Commanding Officer MONUC9, DR Congo, and Chief J2, UNAMID FORCE HQ, Darfur.
He holds a Masters Degree in International Affairs from Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD) and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from UGBS. He also has a Postgraduate Certificate in Public Administration from GIMPA and a Degree in Administration (Human Resource Option).
Brigadier General Ofori is married and his hobbies are gardening, dancing and soccer.
